A very grim sea drama which happened out of the little fishing village of Mayport, Florida in March of 1957. This tragedy stirred the sympathy of thousands in Northeast Florida. Three commercial fishermen, Rhodes Wylie, John Gavagan, and Melvin Singleton went to the outerbanks snapper fishing to try and pay bills and feed their families on to never return. It was a black day in Florida maritime history.
