Noble Savage Productions and Sonny Boy Studios are thrilled to announce that we have completed our short comedy "A Reuben By Any Other Name." The film takes a humorous look at the differences between Orthodox and Reform Judaism played out in terms of the differences between the New York and Los Angeles versions of the Reuben sandwich. Brilliant performances are provided by an ensemble cast of familiar faces from film and television - Jasmine Anthony (Stephen King's 1408, Commander in Chief), Anita Barone (The War at Home, Daddio), Paul Ben-Victor (In Plain Sight, Entourage), Larry Cedar (The Crazies, Deadwood), Pamela Cedar, Alanna Ubach (Hung, Legally Blonde), and Matt Winston (John from Cincinnati, Little Miss Sunshine). Are you an Orthodox or Reform Reubenite? Watch the film and find out!
I am so glad I found this again. Been looking for it to show my friend but forgot the name of it. I LOVED IT

May I respectfully submit an answer to the question asked by the young lady in the video. The Ruben isn't kosher of course but there are millions of folks who are Jewish genetically and also fiercly proud to be Jewish but who don't keep kosher, so a dish can be very Jewish while not at all kosher. That said, the video is warm and funny and quintessentially Jewish and the young lady should immediately be admitted to the nearest Yeshiva.

I loved it! Love watching Paul Ben-Victor.(Max).. 'specially remembering the days when he, my b.f. at the time (Anthony Finocchiaro) and I were in acting classes together. He was an animal THEN! Monstrous talent! Love seeing his success! And it's fun to see him do comedy! Bettina Devin

It's hysterical, really a great charicature of different types of Jews! But I have to admit I've never had a reuben precisely because it mixes meat with dairy. I grew up in a strictly kosher home, and while I've relaxed some things -- the ocassional bit of shell fish, and eating non-kosher beef and chicken -- I simply can't stomach the thought of milk and meat. It makes my stomach turn! Early conditioning...

My favorite sandwich at my favorite deli growing up in Boro Park was corned beef, turkey and cole slaw (no cheese of course) on rye or club. I never heard of a Rueben back then. Nowadays living on the west coast if I happen to be visiting a big city I still ask for cole slaw on my sandwich, no cheese. Nothing against cheese or sauerkraut, I love them too and I'm no longer kosher, but good cole slaw (and that beautiful young lady in the video) (and New York City) are the best.

@Fred4141n -- Hey! NYC has a lot of great things going 4 it but as a lifelong Chicagoan I think my city is pretty darn great and world class and I hate those NYC-ers who act as if anything in their city is automatically better than what other cities have. At least Chicago's NFL team actually plays in a Chicago stadium and within the state of IL. Compare that to the New Jersey Jets and the New Jersey Giants. Only NFL team in the state of NY is the Buffalo Bills.
