"A Song for You" written in 1970 has been recorded by numerous artists including Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, and its composer, Leon Russell. This excellent version from the Carpenters is from their 1972 album of the same name released by A&M Records. The sax solo is by Bob Messenger. Richard Carpenter considers A Song for You to be their finest album. The song was later included in the album, Love Songs and in Carpenters Gold: 35th Anniversary Edition, a two-disc compilation released in 2004.
To me, this version of "A Song for You" by Karen is the best.
