  • @caafau it says that on the part 2

  • In more detail the volcanic ash solidifies over the impellers and injection chamber (air/fuel mix) and inhibits the performance to the point of total failure (balance of air/fuel mix). On a side note it would be nice if we didn't have zone (country) restrictions as half the vids are not available to view.. Poor form both BBC and YT for the BS implementation. Its destroying quality viewing!!!!

  • Red Bull Cola FTW <3

  • @gfjmember Will GPS help when the engines fail? No! Also GPS isn't practical. if you change speed you have to start all calculations again. GPS will only give you an average speed from one point to another.. The big problem with volcanic ash and aircraft is it gets into the engines, Heats up again, Cools then solidifies, inside the engine Also the ash can't be detected by radar its impossible to avoid.

  • @gfjmember GPS won't always get you to where you are going....... How about the side of ben nevis when it said take a right at the next mountain.

  • : P

  • Lovely clean hands Jem, someone's been playing with the ash :D

  • aircraft is also counting aprox. speed by measuring RPM of its engines which are written in ECU.. even if is he flying with one or two engines off the CPU know how fast is the airplane approximately flying

  • Search for Air Crash investigating Falling from the sky re BA009 off The Indonesian coast it is the only reason you need to stay grounded at the moment, why more people haven't mentioned this incident surprises me.

  • I would assume that the aircraft has other ways to measure its speed.

    GPS, perhaps
