Short row heel made easy with this simple method of wrapping and picking up stitches. Use of a counter allows even a novice to create a beautiful heel. Also, there is no hole left in the gusset using this technique.

  • Hi there, at the start of this tutorial you say that you do a 64 st cast on for all socks - baby and adult. What kind of needle size and yarn weight would you use for say an adult women's sock, compared with an adult men's sock, and a baby sock? Hopefully your answer will help me to understand tension gauges better to that I can guestimate my own sock patterns! :-)

  • @JulieCatterson I use 64 sts for a woman's sock with fingering weight yarn. For a man's sock I use 72 sts with fingering weight yarn. A baby sock is 32 sts. I hope this helps!

  • Just finished my 7th pair of sock - I'm a little addicted. THANKS . . . I think. :)

  • @robtalks Welcome to sock addiction!

  • I thought this would be hard, but it's not! I've been knitting gusset heels, and really wanted there to be a more seamless, cleaner way to work. Thanks! I will never knit another gusset heel again!
