Isn't it amazing how little it takes to brighten the day of locals while traveling? When I noticed women sitting along the road in the process of "something," I asked guide Ricardos what they were doing. "Making copra." Knowing absolutely nothing about this, we stopped to watch and interact.
I'll let you watch the video for all the details on how Copra is made but that's not what I remember. These woman and families were so thrilled that a traveler actually stopped to talk to them! Tourists drive by, wave, and carry on. No one ever stops. It made me as happy as it made them.
