Tribute to my Dad and his band Eddie Pongrac and his Twilight Islanders hailing from Bayonne NJ. Song was recorded on the Major Bowes Amateur Hour May 16 1940. The song is Ta Hu Wa Hu Wai otherwise known as Hawaiian War Chant. Used by the gracious permission of Mr. Albert Fisher of Fisher Productions. Includes slides of his service in WWll where he was injured at Kerama Retto by Kamikaze off Okinawa. Véletlenül találtam itt a youtube-on erre a kedves melódiára keresgélés közben. Magyarként külön öröm, hogy ilyen príma zenéket játszottak magyarok (is), köszönöm és gratulálok. (Mert a Pongrac név az biztosan hazai kötődésű...)
That's wonderful -- people today don't realize, being on Major Bowes' Amateur Hour back then was like being on American Idol today. What a wonderful tribute to your dad and grandfather -- thanks so much for posting. They sound great.
Great Hawaiian vocals ~ sounds like real kanakas singing. Quite a vintage looking steel guitar console. I wonder if the guys were pokin fun saying "lua" in the vocals which is a toilet, ha, ha. Probably figured no one would ever know what it meant. Whatevah, good cover. Unc. Kiki
