My dad had an 88 Metro Vanden Plas auto which lasted him from 1999 till middle of 2010.....she was then scrapped due to being very rotten/rust. We've since bought another 88 Metro. My father and I and somewhat Austin Rover car enthusiasts and lol rust is the problem haha!

@AdamAdamant2001 I never knew that you could get a Rover 800 in Australia, was it imported by your self?

Wonder why they only got 81bhp from the Turbo diesel, surely 90-95bhp would have been easily acheivable and would have given the Monty a good bit more go! Plus, they should have used this engine in the later R8 (200/400) range cars instead of giving money to PSA for their engines...

I love AR products, but that 3M tape bodge amused me somewhat, it probably worked as well!! The idle surge on the multipoint hotwires engines was well documented, I think it was down to a dirty throttle potentiometer in the end......but nearly every hot wires system I saw, suffered from it......though funnily enough, my M series 820Si and 820Turbo were suprisingly free from this issue.....

I own a Rover 827 Vitesse fastback here in Australia and I must say it is the most comfortable, reliable and best looking car I've ever own (next to my other Rover SD1 3500SE that is)
