This was a first attempt at Tykek tarp construction for a P.C.T. hike planned with my brother-in-law for 08.

  • Absolutely terrible idea.

  • oh this is the first try with a silly pinching clip - now used with the rock and noose instead. much stronger and last's longer. Ill have to load a video.

  • good luck mate, proberbly just one of those days when everything just keeps falling, cheers

  • lol yea for the video is was not a good demo but the live one on one with mountainering guy was better.

  • @59Gretsch Tyvek comes in 9 foot long rolls zpacks dot com sells it for $3/linear foot or $3 /square yard but I suspect you could get a better price in a DIY construction store.

  • Is it possible to make a Tyvek shirt and a Tyvek belt?

  • You could also just use a ridge line

  • Good job! I hope it worked out for you. Tyvek is a grrat product.

  • Room for two? You could fit a family of four or Five in there.

  • @kc7fys He said the hammer is in place of a rock, since he doesn't have one. At least listen if you are going to take the time to watch the video.

  • I'm not sure where that hammer comes from--it kind of defeats the purpose of your lighweight tent if you have that heavy hammer along. I use the Tyvek, too.

  • It's a little gauche to appear without a shirt. Still, a good video

  • Interesting and instructive. But, I think I wouldn't mind the extra couple pounds for a lightweight one-man tent that definitely keeps the rain out and I can set up in the wind and rain without too much difficulty. Get your sleeping bag wet and you'll be packing more pounds anyway. Just what works for me...I'm not the type that needs to go 40 miles in one day either and I'm not a 20-somthing that can just tough everything out.

  • Got 600 PCT trail miles on my Tyvek ground cloth, still holding up fine....
