This is part of a series of videos Jim Stanek, product manager for Dixon Drums, has put together to feature the different series of kits available at Dixon. Recorded at Inner Space Sound Labs during the hottest week of the summer. Ever! Best viewed and listened to in HD.
This Outlaw is the 18x22 kick drum with Evan's heads. Jim demos the hard and soft side of the beater showing the different tones you can get from the bass drum.

  • Sorry man, But it sounds like garbage

  • Your head is too tight. If you want that great kick sound then you have to have a really loose resonant head and a slightly tighter batter head. Also, put that kick mic a couple inches farther inside the head. Also might have to scoop out about 180-325Hz and maybe boost 1.5kHz or 3.5kHz.

  • should have let me mic it up. then it wouldnt sound like an 18 gallon pail

  • sounds horrible - probably the way it is mic'd up though

  • sounds horrible

  • It has to be filled more out from the inside, before you can call that a good kick..

  • theres too much like "whaa" sound after you hit it.. at lesat thats what it sounds like to me. But other than that that drum looks gorgeous :)

  • sounds bad

  • Sounds pretty nice to me.
