A song Sophie Tucker sang in her 1929 talkie "Honky Tonk". One of my favourite Elsie Carlisle's records. Here she is on this rare 1929 recording on the Worldecho label.
Elsie was appearing on Dominion records at the time, which no doubt explains why she appears here as "Sheila Kay". Acc. by Leslie and Cecil Norman's band.
Recorded 16th October 1929.
This is the best version I have heard of this song - she sings it like she means what she is singing about, and like she is telling the listener. Fantastic

The Norman's band was very good. It's not often you find mint World Echos, with the covers!

The best female vocalist by far for me,the best thing about the record is the pace.
It gives the listener time to hear al that beautiful background playing by this very good band. Thanks
