So the rich factory owners spend a tiny portion of the vast wealth they have made using children as slaves in dangerous jobs without safety precautions...and that somehow makes their abuse and exploitation of children "ok?" I doubt the mained and poverty and debt ridden kids are among those who benefit from such "blood schools."

This basic facts about Sivakasi clearly contradict the charges. This small town has as many as 42 educational institutions. This includes three arts colleges, a women's college, an engineering college, two polytechnics and one pharmaceutical college. About 39,000 students, almost equal number of boys and girls, are on their rolls. Who built this huge educational infrastructure? Not the government. The fireworks owners. If children were their human resource why would they build schools for them?

@akkeranaveen: Hazardous, chemically harmful work environment... frequent woeful accidents... air pollution linked to heightened cases of illnesses like asthama...Is all of this is an acceptable price for 'employment'? If so, why not support bringing back banned drugs? Why not promote tobacco and cigars? They too create 'jobs'. It's high time we realize that this whole 'jobs' argument is nothing but a cover-up tactic of people who wanna keep bursting crackers without feeling bad about it.

Think about it this way, they are earning 100Rs /week, what will happen if people stop buying crackers...they will be leading a shit life thereafter...who knows wot worse is coming their way then....

We all do feel sad about this....but what's the solution? No point just feeling bad about this. One possibility is that we do not buy crackers and educate our children about the same.
