Queen Mary 2 in severe storm: 7m waves, wind 11 Beaufort, 5.10.2011 between Quebec and New York. Celebrity Summit and Silver Whisper hat to turn back to Quebec to avoid storm. Queen Mary 2 is built to stand such weather conditions.
simply because we were trying to have some "Indian Summer" and on our way back. That's the reason. No Indian Summer on the Bahamas uh?
Was really a "ride"... especially impressive the water moving from one side to the other throughout the wintergarden.... poor cleaning boys... they didn't know where to start blocking the entry of the water at the doors.... was simply too prompt and too much. But really was an experience.Congrats to all employees involved!
Wonderful video especially at 6:31 and 7:26 where is shows the breakwater doing what is was designed to do. It also shows why Payne was able to the the SOLAS exemption and hang her life boats higher than normally allowed.
amazing footage thanks for posting! I had family and friends onboard at the time - they really enjoyed the ride by all accounts... amazing ship - the best for this kind of weather.

great footage. the average ship would have been in trouble in those seas. amazing how little she was pitching.

It is obvious why the deck chairs must be so stable. Amazing what the sea can do with such a huge ship. And how cool it plows through the waves.
Nice video.
