Christmas 2008. The Dean boys decided to buy our mom the same dog she grew up with. My mom is the kind of animal fanatic that only adopts unwanted animals. We decided to buy her one anyways. We found a breeder in South Carolina that had the exact puppy she wanted, a black Newfoundland girl puppy. It just so happened that the puppy would be ready by Christmas. A week before Christmas we got a call from the breeder saying that the puppy had a severe overbite and said she would cut the price by half and asked if we were still interested. It turned out my mom was even more excited when she found out that we got her a puppy from the discount rack.

she's adorable. Looks so much like our chow/spaniel mix that passed away this summer. Great to see such a young, vibrant spirit.
