An old children's song, written by Henry Clay Work in 1876, just before I was born. I used to find this really sad when I was little, and if it came on the radio I had to leave the room before I blubbed. "The Blizzard" by Jim Reeves had exactly the same effect on me!

  • I love your playing, Teddy Bears Picnic, Old Grumpy and this delicate version of my Grandfather's Clock. The first song I learned finger picking (is there any other way to play? lol) was Railroad Bill (of course). But I could never compare with you.

  • Thank you! That's very kind of you.

  • Happy New Year!!!

I wish I could play like you.

Can you send me TAB of your play as I am a beginner.

    Thank you from Japan.

  • Happy New Year to you too! Sorry, I don't have a tab for this, i just worked it out. It's in the key of C major in standard tuning, if that helps.

  • awesome performance..great job!

  • Thanks so nmuch! It's really simple to play.

  • ***** VERY BEAUTIFUL *****

    Congratulations Ishmael.

    Hugs,

    Raíssa (Brasil)

  • The song is kinda like a short version of

    "Our Town".

Henry Clay Work was one of the greatest 19th century American composers. The others were Steven Foster and George Root.

    Johnny Cash recorded this song.

Nice performance. Tx 4 the timely post.

  • Thank you very much!
