Part of the Asia After Dark Series... The earliest accounts of Muaythai go back over five hundreds of years to a fears style of unarmed combat that decided the fate of Thai kings. The fighters used cotton soaked in glue and dipped into broken glass on their knuckles in place of gloves in order to inflict mortal damage. Muaythai was banned in the early nineteenth century do to the high incident of physical injury and even death. The fighter who inflicts more damage by way of punches, elbows, knees and feet to weaken, damages, bruise or cut his opponent will ultimately be crowed the winner! The Great Muaythai Celebration to honor The King of Thailand 60th Anniversary of his accession to the throne and the King's 80th Birthday. Thailand's top ranked fighters put their belts on the line for one night in honor of their King. A One Songchai Promotions event in collaboration with Centaur Studio's Asia After Dark series. The event filmed at the world famous Ratchadamnoen Stadium Bangkok, Thailand. Exclusive up-close ringside coverage, behind the scenes interviews with legendary Muaythai promoter, stadium officials, Muaythai trainers, fighters and spectators.
