La sera in cui si suicidò, Roberto Deplano, scientologist di Cagliari  disse alla madre che gli avevano fatto il lavaggio del cervello e che lo avevano messo sotto ipnosi, facendogli poi ascoltare la cassetta in cui erano state registrate dichiarazioni riguardanti la sua vita, soggiungendo che lo perseguitavano e che non sarebbe potuto più uscire da quella situazione.

Il responsabile della setta fu condannato in primo grado per estorsione, 100 milioni e minacce di morte.

It is not the happiest, safest place. Lots of stress takes place at Flag, lots of waiting,lots of hassels and you spend a lot of money. And if you complain or don't like it it costs you more money. Most people don't say anything. They just want to get out of there and get home. It's just part of the engram you have to go through to go free. Maybe some day it will get easier. All someone has to do is change their mind and it could be a lot smoother but for right now it's a big hassel
