Lyrics: She's Ophelia by the water/crying for her lover's leaving/ and
she wonders if he's cheating/ and she wonders what to say/ if it's just
something that happens/ did it really feel quite worth it/in Denmark or
Minnesota/ now she feels that she needs bathing/to wash away the sad
within her/ in the dark and cooling water/ leave her shame upon the
surface/ as she sacrificed her body/ on an altar of his lies/ and um
yeah word now among the guys is that she is an easy one/ does it matter
to the world/ if she burns out at 21/ or marries, lives inside a
squalid home with a drunk she hasn't known/ since the 11th grade?/
She's Ophelia near the town creek/ and she's too smart for her own
good/writing poetry about blood/ got to wonder will she be free/ if she
skips the football games/ and sleepovers with cheerleaders/ shut the
door, in her room now/ wonder what her parents think/ is she on the
brink/ does she need therapy?/ Ophelia- 10,000 everywhere/ Ophelia- can
I help you at all?/ I try so hard to reach you/ but you're underneath
the surface/ is it too late, Ophelia? She's Ophelia by the river/ and
she's not sure to go jumping/ but she's sure it would be something/ a
teen suicide front page/ on the local metro times/ and the worlh it
says "deal with it"/ but she wants to have more meaning/ than the
parties and the cute guys/ with their drunken grasping fingers/
sometimes I think she's not where she wants to be/ but she doesn't want
any help from me
Songwriter here...It's very likely that I will have to move to California and give up my band. I'm feeling pretty low. These versions are really the roughest possible take of a song, ina low quality audio format.
