In celebration of the 50th "when did Optimus Prime become Thor?" on the TFA "Endgame" climax (http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=GnYo7xh6t7w), a short compilation to remind us that G1 Optimus Prime was himself no stranger to a witticism.

This side of Optimus Prime is actually the thing that I miss the most in Transformers: Prime, showing that he's not just a celebrated leader and peerless warrior, he's also a guy (so to speak). It seems as if, in getting back the revered Peter Cullen for the role, they're afraid to give him any lines which are not of extraordinary gravitas and resounding importance.

At least some of the original appeal of G1 can be traced back to the humor, so let us not forget that G1 Optimus Prime had a playful side too.

The Optimus from TF Animated is okay. But the Optimus from TF Prime is as funny as a funeral. And it's saddening.

I liked the original series because it had large posses of 'Bots and 'Cons. Not just 5~10 on each side.

@monkeyass116 g1 prime was previously orion pax, and was pretty much killed by megatron prior to the start of the great war. g1 optimus was the prototype of the kinds of autobots needed for the great war, as before then they were all "consumer goods". he then led the autobots for five million years of war prior to launching the ark. i reccomend to you the season 2 episode "war dawn". god i'm full of useless trivia.

You forgot that part when Optimus crashes into the back of that train (It might have been the "Kremzeek!" episode.) It might not be wit, but it certainly was Lol-worthy.

@monkeyass116 Yes, the overall tone of TFP is much darker than the G1 cartoon. And even the G1 comics feature a relatively less-experienced Prime.
