Stewart Pankin gives out the clues. On the very last catagory, did the give make an illegal clue? Should the contestant win. Watch, Judge, and see for yourself. They are playing for $10,000. Dick Clark hosts.

  • That was one of the closest decision by a judge of answer to a catergory on the $100,000.

  • @oldertvshowswerebetr i'm pretty sure it's Bob Stewart or his son Sandy and maybe a 2nd judge who decides the results in outcomes like this

  • Was curious if anyone knows who this judge is or any of the judges they used over the years? Producer, maybe?

  • To think of all the garbage games that have come-n-gone since. By far The Pyramid and Password were the best modern game shows since What's My Line and The Name's the Same. What ever happened to: keeping it simple?

  • Totally valid clue. A diver's board or a diving board both describe a thing with a platform. Truly, the more synonymous and potentially buzzable clue was a candidate's credo which is a platform and certainly does not have a platform.

  • Brilliant choice! I LOVE Dick Clark's version of the Pyramid. The most exciting game show ever. This is a fine example of why this was the mother of suspense in American day time game shows.

  • I always laughed when the judge used his DING or BZZZ to "talk" to Dick or the contestants.

  • I think I know why the judge buzzed at first. 1. Stewart at the very end says "a diver, a diving board, a diver's board." The judge probably buzzed him for "a diver" because a diver doesn't have a platform. 2. "A candidate's credo" comes dangerously close to being the platform, as opposed to having a platform.

Either way, "...as soon as he gets that hearing aid fixed he'll be 100%. *BUZZ*" made hilarious television.

  • Its a Win

  • A diving board has a platform, but a diving board also IS a platform. So it could be synonymous. However, because it still fits the category, it is still a valid clue. A diving board could have a platform. So I think it is definitely a close call that went the right way.
