Spent an extended weekend in Utah visiting friends and family, and seeing Arcade Fire live. After a couple days of rain, the sun finally came up and saved everything. 9 hours of the trip was spent riding skateboards.

Working on this video helped strengthen my roller-coaster relationship with the NEX-VG-10. I really enjoyed using it while filming all of this. 60p would have been nice... but shutter priority at 1/60 and an ND fader helped a lot.

This was filmed in 3 days, edited in one. (one long nerdy day)

  • Great image. I think you'd love to have the Vg-20, right? To be able to shoot 60p? However, this movie underlines that even such a feature isn't necessairy to record something like skateboarding in an extraordinary way. Thank you for sharing :)

  • @AnjuGNL Thank you very much! Glad you liked it. I still have not upgraded to the VG-20. Do I need it? Probably not. But there are quite a few features that would be nice. Peaking, 60p, better auto focus, and audio level monitoring just to name a couple. So yes, I would really love to have it. But the best tool is the one you've got. :) Thanks again.

  • What Camera you guys use? quality is amazing.

  • @mwright83 But the new firmware update included peaking, right? I've got it at my NEX 3, at least :-). (I'm also considering to buy the VG-10, can buy it for about 650/700 euro).

  • Hey matt! It's Drew Kline, from Riverton. You know the kickflip over the pyramid in you Riverton montage. just wondering if you remember me. Anyway's I am looking into starting my own film company. Skating/snowboarding, filming wedding's, also looking into photography. Just wondering if you had any tips on getting started? Also really love this montage! The skating's great, and so if the filming and editing. Any way's if you could get back to me I would really appreciate it.
