Our microwave ovens use multiple levels of protection to shield you from radiation exposure, but does your cooker "leak" radiation? Some say the cell phone test can tell you.

  • cell phones communicate on the following frequencies: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz. A microwave uses radiation at approx. 2400Mhz to cook. The microwave is designed to block radiation in the 2400 MHz range, but may effectively block communications as low as 1800 MHz, depending on design. This is why some cellphones work in a microwave, and some dont. The test itself is flawed, and anyone who takes it seriously clearly doesnt know what exactly they are testing.

  • My iPhone is able to receive calls when locked in my Amana Radar Range.

I called Amana Customer service and they said that this kind of testing is a "myth".

Of couse - I would expect them to say that. So I still don't feel any better about the possible dangers.

  • did this test with 2 cell phones. one from T-Mobile, the other from Virgin Mobile. The TM did not ring, the VM one did. Seems there is a FLAW in this test.

  • You idiot reporter, the microwave energy may penetrate/exit the microwave but the signals may would be chopped up by the wire lattice/screen. Here's an ROUGH example: I could shoot a bullet at a samurai sword edge and it would cut the bullet in two. Now would each fragment half be a BULLET??? NO. But the fragment could still do damage.

  • All microwave leak, check my channel, I tested three microwaves. They all leak a large amount of microwave radiations.
