This is a great video showing one skate technique in sprinting. The skier gets lots of power, and really gets very high on the start of his push. He also demonstrates the double push technique with his inner leg. I've slowed it down so you can really take a look at the technique.

  • at 1:03 his hips are too far back.

  • @alaskancody You're right it looks like he's a little back when he's squatting. He does a great job of getting way up and out on his double pole but then when he comes down he does go back a little. It's not as critical in my estimation on the down portion, the most important part of this is getting out and over his poles to start the double pole motion. That's where you have to apply the greatest force. Good catch.

  • The video hasn't been sped up. That's the speed that international sprinters will go at. It's pretty impressive.

  • What is song this it

  • It's by Metric called Front Row.

  • Круто! Просто очень круто идет человек.

  • It says to watch the hips toward the end.

Pause at 1:02 and watch how forward they are.

At 1:03 and 4 he drops them back. They should be kept forward.

  • The video has been sped up at the beginning.

  • I love this video...the person filming seems to be moving across the snow pretty fast too at times, yet with ultimate smoothness...is this filmed from a vehicle?

  • Thanks!

  • They're experimenting with it in Cross Country skiing to see if they can an additional push in the skate technique. I think it's also not likely to provide much in the way of additional power or push.
