The Black Arrow tells the story of Richard (Dick) Shelton during the Wars of the Roses: how he becomes a knight, rescues his lady Joanna Sedley, and obtains justice for the murder of his father, Sir Harry Shelton. Outlaws in Tunstall Forest organized by Ellis Duckworth, whose weapon and calling card is a black arrow, cause Dick to suspect that his guardian Sir Daniel Brackley and his retainers are responsible for his father's murder. Dick's suspicions are enough to turn Sir Daniel against him, so he has no recourse but to escape from Sir Daniel and join the outlaws of the Black Arrow against him. This struggle sweeps him up into the greater conflict surrounding them all. The story of the Wars of the Roses is told in miniature by The Black Arrow, a
1888 novel by author Robert Louis Stevenson,

  • I'm way too lazy to read the shitty book so I'm gonna watch this instead... I have a terrible feeling about this :(

  • "The Brotherhood of the Black Arrow" sounds like a group of guys on the "down low"

  • I remember this and other stories from the holidays in the early to mid 1970's. If my remember ...isn't too bad...I think they were sponsored by Kenner toys ???

  • You can get this at places like Wal-Mart for a $1...I love this movie. Going "old school" :-)

  • boring boring Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • one of the best cartoons i ever seen

  • wow, thank you so much for posting this.

  • Does anyone remember another Black Arrow cartoon movie? Dick Sheldon is blonde in it, and the girl is in a blue dress near the end? Can barely remember much of it as I watched it when I was about 3/4, but damn, I can't find it!

  • Hooray for cheap animation!

(And genuine respect that they attempted to animate real classic literature)

  • ANIMATED CLASSICS, always on during the kids, I loved these!!
