@darkwarriorkane The words "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" gives them the ability to form a militia. We can not have a "well regulated militia" if we do not have guns. This is not talking about our standing US ARMY, Reserve Forces or the NATIONAL GUARD. The militia is formed by the people, the common citizenry.

limited government (preferably with someone other than Perry as the chief executive. The goons at Fox news can suck it for being hypocrites - they're not reasonable in general to begin with. However, I'd like to reiterate that Texas CAN secede, it doesn't depend on the union for anything that couldn't be provided through trade somehow, and it wouldn't be annexed by Mexico, nor would it be a target for foreign military ventures, unless the union decided to forcibly take Texas back.

reserve the right to secede. I'm no fan of Rick Perry, but I'm not opposed to secession. It isn't treason. It's legal. We don't need a space program, and as far as a military goes, we'd work something out. We wouldn't be gunning for a trillion-dollar, global military empire - that much is certain. We possess land, resources, major cities, people of economic value and talent, and we have a number of ports. We have plenty of universities, and I'm sure we could put together a functioning (cont'd)

Here's my critique: As a Texan, I'm not entirely sure how this is so shocking, but I've grown up in Texas culture, and I understand the pride we have for our state. We were once an independent nation, and I don't entirely mind the idea of returning to such a status. Every state has the right to secede. Texas and New Hampshire have this right explicitly stated in their agreement to join the union. Since all states have equal status and rights in the union, it logically follows that all states

@darkwarriorkane No they do not they belong to Texas. We have the Texas Militia. Bottom line Texas don't need America. You don't know what you talking about.

@starandanchor yes your right to worship as you see fit is your right however unlike most texas folks seem to believe the same right goes to us who get our morals from something other a bible which is a how to guide for hate and violence. And in the second amendment it states you can keep a well regulated militia not the citizens itself. Amendment II. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

@johnholmes313 the bases do but you will need a shit load more soldiers unless your new leaders first act is a draft you'll be under staffed

@darkwarriorkane The Bill of Rights was amended to the Constitution in 1791, just FOUR YEARS after the Constitution was ratified. So... Yes the Founding Fathers felt it neccessary to protect our Right to Keep and Bear Arms from future problems in government that could become corrupted. As for God in the Government, our rights to worship as we see fit is also protected, and our morals and values are often guided by these practices of worship... You have no point to your post...

@starandanchor So you want God out of Government? You want Guns out of the hands of people? (the gun right was an amendment not in the founders document) Also if Texas wants to go Bye.
Texas hates America, sell it to Mexico :)
