The Burst and Bloom EP (2001) was Cursive's first release after their album "Domestica" (2000). Also being their first release with cellist Gretta Cohn which started the sound so uniquely known building up to "The Ugly Organ" (2004). Gretta Cohn left the band in 2005.

Someone told me that the lyrics in this song are based on or inspired by reviews of the band and their music. - If so that makes the lyrics better in my opinion.
