Pope Benedict XVI received the President of the Republic of Croatia, Stejpan Mesić, Thursday November 12. During the cordial talks, the situation of the Region was discussed, concerning the main challenges that await the country, and the factors that promote stability and strengthen peace. The ancient and ever-living Catholic tradition in Croatia was brought to mind, as well as the importance of respecting that identity and promoting the common good through a constructive dialogue between the governmental authorities, the Episcopate, and all members of society.
