There is no luck in the hole thing...
you can calculate the best path by running though all possible path at the beginning
the problem of his mouse is he running it at high speed an the mouse can't actually stop before hitting wall.

wow that was amazing he actually got it in just 5.085 sec. I think this is partially luck since the mouse cant really determine which path is correct and if the mouse chooses the right path from the start then you can get it to goal real quickly.
