The Dhanthal was "founded" on the twin island repbulic of Trinidad & Tobago by the East Indians
-
I was on a website a while back, and it had some clips of people singing in a rural village in Western Bihar, and I tell you....it sounded EXACTLY the same, minus the dhantaal, yes the dhantaal was founded in the Caribbean, Trinis say they invented it, Guyanese say they did, you guys say you did, but who knows? I know its definitely a improvised diaspora instrument.
But I believe the dialect you guys are singing in is in "bhojpuri".
-
I don't think it exactly "evolved on the ships", this music genre from India is found in rural Bhojpuri areas of Bihar, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, this same type of music is still sung there in the village, almost exactly the same way.

Great job!

GOTCHA !!! My background is Guyanese but I live in Canada. Thanks for answering my question. Keep up the good work :)

Where are you from? We're from Holland (original from Suriname) Bhaitak Gana evolved on the ships that brought us over the caribean.
Als 't om dand tal ( weet echt niet hoe j t spelt) gaat.. Is Dennis Saddal toch zeker de beste in het vak. Constante stampoe-heid bij die gast. Goeie zaak, Dennis!
