All very well but if they made stuff better it would last and not have to be thrown out. Not enough people reuse and repair, there's still people who have not heard of FREECYCLE and similar schemes to rehome outdated or unwanted goods. I still have an old mobile phone, a VHS vcr , my toaster is from the 80s and my car is 20 this year. I think they should have quality standards for new items so the junk stays out of the system and products last.

Hi 'Wildatsun' thanks for your comments - all quite valid. I guess we are in a society where price point is key for new goods. We always have the option to pay twice as much for top end quality like a Miele washmashine which would probably last longer and for sure justify a repair if it went wrong....but sales figures tell a different tale.
