  • The German title seems to be : Love, after this tango forget me! An imperative given by a man who likes to move along.

  • @StJouish

In the title is - Liebling !

Not - Liebe; if I may notice.

  • Darling, after this tango, you will forget me?

This reminds me of so many of the 1930s songs but apparently he was always trying something new.

  • Yes, that is the meaning of this motive.

Schmidt will appear again at my channel singing one more tango-song as well as other great voices of the timne; within a week or so...;-)

  • Schmidt is really brilliant in this one, thank you!!!

  • Has a soul.

Easily takes into some special dimension...:-)

  • @jurek46pink U r right: liebling not liebe. Darling is given as the equivalent in online German-English dictionary. but maybe "sweetheart" would be good, too.

  • So alt, und immer noch wahr ist der Text!

Wenn man heute deutsch singt, klingt es komisch. Damals klang es schön und authentisch. Neue deutsche Tangos wirken eher lächerlich, die alten Tangos sind einfach nur schön.

  • Beuty produced from great suffering...Joseph Schmidt understood this when he sang. Sublime voice! Thank you for posting.

  • Thank you for posting this; Joseph Schmidt had a magnificent voice and he possessed a degree of musicianship that matched the voice. Every time I hear him sing, I am transported into another realm.

  • This is one of my new favorites! Have discovered Joseph Schmidt on YT and like his singing very much. Here his voice has a yearning quality, which is a nice contrast to the lilting melody.

  • very nice vouce ...
