The Willy Maykett (pronounced Will-He Make-It) was one of many mass-produced transports during the war. It was involved in fighting on both sides of the pond, in at least two different ponds. Although it had a fearsome reputation for being hard to sink, the truly legendary part was that even if it did sink, it would mysteriously re-appear 5 minutes later, acting as though it had never been sunk at all.

  • Hey, since you are a registered scuba diver and you are good at recovering model ships, I need to ask you a question. I have a model Carpathia that I recreated her sinking in 1918 for my friends, and she has been stuck in the weeds underwater for a day. Is there any tool I could use to get the model out without harming the weeds? The mayor doesn't allow harming marine life.

  • @starwarsfandude I don't think it is possible to retrieve your ship without causing any harm, as simply pulling the ship straight up will cause at least a little damage. However, there are ways to minimize damage to the weeds.

If you can dive for the ship, that would be best. You can cause less damage in person than any machine less expensive than your ship. If that is not an option due to depth, distance from shore, or other hazards, then you'll have to use alternate methods.

  • @starwarsfandude namely, poking around with a hooked pole or, in deeper waters, dragging a hook along the bottom. You can reduce damage by putting an underwater camera on the pole or hook, so you can zero in on your ship if you get close, but either way there will be some damage caused. Frankly I am surprised that the mayor doesn't allow minor damage to pond weeds, since every government I know of hates weeds. They grow back quickly too, so any damage will quickly disappear.

  • have you ever lost one on the bottem and couldent find it

  • @TheJebus12341 I have never lost a ship, and I have never seen any ships get lost, either. I have heard that a couple of ships got lost in Florida, in a gator-infested pond. The skippers declined to go after their ships. Other than that, I am SCUBA certified (as are many other people) and am quite good at recovering sunken ships.

  • arent you afraid of a rattlesnake in the lake or some kind of snake

  • @mom352 There are no water snakes in this area, and rattlesnakes don't like to swim in the cold water. In fact, I haven't seen any sort of snake at our pond in all the years I've been battling.
