Child's Eyes
What do you remember?
Of the time you said you would
Spend a hundred pound
On ice-cream if you could
What do you recall of your playground ways?
Where making friends was easy
Laughter filled
All your days
Then swim with the dolphins
Soar high with the birds
With children's eyes we knew
The power of these words
What could you recall of the time when you were five?
And every single second you were glad to be alive
What even of the time you were seven
And your daddy told you all about heaven
You were so excited
When He said
You are invited
We said we'd climb the highest mountain
Drink deep from every fountain
We wanted to be a doctor, a healer a priest
A star player for Lfc...at least
What would it be like to think so clear again
To not keep score and not to pass the blame
To give without care and sing without a reason
To step out of our man made prison
What can you tell me of the time you were fifteen?
When any old car was the dream machine
What can you tell me of that night you were twenty?
When the money came easy and the highs they were plenty
We said we'd climb the highest mountain
Drink deep from every fountain
We knew there was something greater than ourselves
We listened to the trees and danced with the elves
I want us to see the world with child's eyes
I want us to speak freely and tell no lies
Sweet!(:
