In this demonstration, the reversed card makes it easier to appreciate the control. In real performance, the selection would NOT be reversed - you would simply begin the effect. This variation of a sleight that appears in Aaron Fisher's book, The Paper Engine, will stun your audiences. But you'll have to reconstruct it first!
@CardTyper You're thinking of a Diagonal Palm Shift where you palm the card when pretending to push it into the pack.
