This is a demonstration of a simple airflap system for releasing a parachute on a water rocket. The big airflap releases the cone which contains the parachute. The rubber has 2 functions at the same time : holding the cone in place AND pulling the big airflap. The little airflap is pulled down at launch, thus releasing the big airflap. The wind holds the big airflap down. When rocket has no more speed, the big airflap goes up, and the rubber is released from the pin on the airflap, thus releasing the cone and the parachute. (the parachute is not attached yet, so in this clip, it simply falls off ...)
it was fantastic but i dont get ideas on how u making the airflap it work great ..u should make a video on how to make simple airflap...PLZ im interested to know that

that was so cool

@HellRaider99 That only works well when you launch and apogee nearly vertical. Any wind that you get can push the rocket far enough over so that it will simply follow a parabolic trajectory and lawn dart.

I tried this when i started water rockets and it never worked. As far as I can tell, parachute deployment needs to be more complicated to work. I successfully launched and recovered a single bottle rocket with a tomy timer which worked great

@HellRaider99 i tried something like that. but didnt get off. then i made the cone spin different direction from main bottle. both have a 'block' which then press on each others side thus creating friction. when v=0, the moment of cone and main body stops too, no more friction it releases(now make sure the cone is very easily toppled) i made extra large to fit large chute. tried at a school competition and it worked that time. but this doesnt work for parabolic launch as v of rocket never 0

the string, gum or watever it's toooooo tight, i know that when you launched the rocket, the parachute deployed too early and the rocket didn't go up more than 20 meters

ya it looks sensitive but if its shooting up in the air the wind will keep it down...im going to try for my class a simpler way of making a parachute work, im going to put small fins that the cone can sit on, that way the wind pressure will keep the cone on and when it turns side ways at apogee the cone will simply fall off and the parachute will be deployed.
