Heh, I've done a job that was very much like the railroad jobs. I was a construction landscaper. I worked for an oldschool crew and we used to have to run wheel barrows full of gravel up a skinny wooden plank to the back of a truck. It was exhausting work and you could slip off the ramp and really hurt yourself. We also did all the shoveling by hand. We even had to hand tamp the gravel flat by using giant poled with huge square weights at the bottom. Worked rain or shine....but sober.

That wasn't for grown-ups - and it didn't smell as terrible.

It took me awhile to recognize Baldrick from Black Adder! Nice series, it was fun to watch.

I admire Tony Robinson hugely for going through so much disgusting things just to educate the world.

salute to all those ppl around the world who did these jobs
Fantastic show. Thank you TalkCreativePlanet. The next time my daughter complains about having to clean her room, I will remind her of what children from the past had to put up with.
