In response to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, JDC moved swiftly to coordinate relief efforts with its network of Israeli, American, and other local partners on the ground, focusing on the provision of critical food, water, and medical aid to local residents. Additionally, JDC sent two separate teams into the field to research opportunities for both short-term and long-term relief projects. As of February 2010, JDC, with the support of the Jewish community, the Jewish Federations of North America, and other generous donors has raised more than $5.7 million.
