I am really sick and tired of seeing comments posted of "this is bland" or "I can do better" if you know so much and can play so well how about posting a video reply so we can comment on your performance.

Looks like this was done in the early nineties, due to the shoulder pads. Pretty woman, good koto playing. The simplicity and preciseness of it have something to do with a complicated aesthetic that much of Japanese art is based on, it may not sound difficult to play or very flashy, but it's not supposed to. There are certain elements like that in every culture... Like going from baroque to postmodern streamlining. That being said, Chinese traditional music also has awesome nuances.
