This image is for a book cover commission i'm currently working on that features both darkness and light, wolves, dreams, spirits, trees and various other fantasy elements. I'll be uploading more videos of the process so return soon and watch how this sketch develops into the final colour artwork.

Brushes & Colour Wheel - Download via my website.

Double Window - Open your image in Photoshop, then click Window, Arrange, New Window. You will need to drag the windows off the bar and resize them in order to see both at the same time. The Zoom % for each window can be altered individually by using the navigator.

  • Do you use some kind of reference sheets while drawing those wolfs? :o

  • @AMIdragon6 Yes, lots of research. Photos etc to help me capture the realism and correct anatomy. :)

  • @MikeNashArt

yeah, photos are a really good reference! :D

Too bad I cannot do the same. . . . I like to draw dragons, and I don't think there is a photo of a dragon! XD

but at least it helps my imagination to come alive! :D

BTW what is that wonderfully peaceful music in background? :)

it sounds like. . .. a forest in winter. . . wind slightly blowing now and then....

a water stream passing through the woods and few snow flakes snowing from sky....

    so magical and dreamy!~

  • @AMIdragon6 There are plenty of references you can use for drawing dragons! Have a look at lizards, snakes, crocodiles, bats, rhinos and you'll be inspired :)

I used one of the default music tracks that YouTube offers. You can edit a video and choose AudioSwap, then they'll be a list of music. I think this one is called 'The Far River', I thought it really suited the artwork :)
