(This is the OLD "live" version. A better, studio version for 2010 release is on You Tube called "Mishima My Love - Studio 2010") Prolific composer-singer-songwriter Silvanus Slaughter's composition is a tribute to deceased controversial poet, playwright and political idealist Yukio Mishima (d. 1970) .

Slaughter says this arrangement of his piece reflects his admiration for Mishima's passion, and both Kraftwerk and the piano stylings of Ryuchi Sakamoto.

Slaughter's 2009 release will be CONSTELLATIONS COMPROMISED 2, a dark, jazzy suite of pop songs melded with country romance, and THE SYMPHONIC CONFLUENCE OF COWBOYS AND ANGELS AT CAFFE DRIADE, Number One, in a 7-volume psychedelic "jazz abstractions" series that offers several standout "Mishima, My Love" type instrumentals.

"I didn't always agree with Mishima, but he was a man of great commitment." This piece is a demo from "Symphonic Jazz Abstractions 3: Goforth Dreammaker and Potion". WIth the economy being what it is, I have no idea of when I will release this one."

  • There is a mistake concerning the year he took his own life. It was 1970, not 1960.

  • If you like this check out his 'Erotomania 'video. Guy is a good filmmaker too.

  • Nice one silvio!

  • Very very nice theme. Lifts one.

  • This guy composes all over the place, then sings too. Interesting choice of Mishima for tribute song. Like souped-up Sakamoto/YMO. Earphones a plus--cool separation of FX.

  • Mishima was crazy. Wonderfully so, though. The music here is an apt tribute to what one would think might have been the feelings of grandeur, disappointment and tenderness in his odd soul. Very nice montage too.
