Acoustic original...This is a song about a monument placed on top of the old mine workings near where i live (see it at the end of the video)...It wasn't a great monument but it told the story of our history..It had a winding wheel placed on top of a brick base..Sadly the wheel was torn down and stolen, probably for scrap..I spent 15 years working at the mine it honoured and was sad that no respect was shown by the thieves for the men who worked there, and for those who lost their lives....It's probably melted down now and being used to make something new..The wheels still turning

  • Amazing! I enjoyed watching the video. Thanks for sharing

  • Simple and direct story-telling in this. The monument was a testimony to the nature of the men who worked the mine and built what the community was at its high point.

The theft is, I guess a sign of what we as a culture are becoming. So, yes, it does still speak to what we might be.
