@gamewizard Probably so. Lots of modern type music came from the old styles, like Eephing, Yodeling, and Throat singing.

Jimmie also played piano in Roy Acuff's band for quite a long time.

Is this how beat boxing got started?

Wow. I remember this so well. I am so thankful my parents let me watch Hee Haw harrrr.

the 30 second space in the middle of Hee Haw, featuring Riddle and Phelps' Eef and Hambone, was truly the moment of zen in every episode. I still thrill to it, every time I hear it.

Eeefing awesome.

Riddle & Phelps were among Hee Haw's jewels. Jimmie Riddle, 1918-82, in addition to being a phenomenal eefing virtuoso, was also a harmonica player second to none. The clip with him & Bob Luman should prove the point. And yet Riddle was an extremely humble fellow, never took himself too seriously, was content to stay in the background. Today we look back at these rare clips & realize he was one of country music's treasures, the King of Eefing, who never got his full due. Hats off to Jimmy Riddle

This is beyond amazing.
Fantastic post. This was for some odd reason- a childhood obsession.

@MsKit1 Thank you so much.I loved this act as a child also. Riddlee and Phelps would appear briefly on Hee Haw,and I would laugh for an hour.
