An automatic pop can crusher I made. A motor continuously rotates and actuates the cam, which crushes the can to about 1/2" thick. The crushed cans then fall through a slot and are collected in a bucket.

I get asked a lot, so here are the motor specs:

Brand: Bison
Model Number: 014-500-0199
Voltage: 230v
Amperage: 2.5A
Horsepower: 1/6HP
Gear Ratio: 199:1
Torque: 1100 in/lbs
RPM: 8.4-7

  • I am a can smasher, I love yours, it's captivating. I am a can crushing junkie, I like the sound your machine makes when it crushes the cans, I could watch it all day.

  • How do you work out the stroke ? What would happen if the link connected to the shaft on the motor was offset ?Id love to hear your comments

  • if he wants he can go 199 x faster

  • Collect the cans year 'round, crush your cans and save them for recycling for the dead of winter(Late Jan. thru February) when the scrap price doubles your money. BTW, nice job. Later, Rick.

  • A great contraption. However, with the current price of scrap aluminum, this is a losing propisition. If you add up the cost of material to build, the power consumed per can, you end up with a negative number. I have looked at all the possiblities, and the best return is the manual lever crusher. It crushes to same thickness as yours, uses no power, and cost $18. With the mechanical advantage, it is fairly effortless. But yours is much more fun to watch!

  • @JOECANMAN1 You just make a 30can chute for it, turn it on and go watch a movie.

  • toooooo slow check out the aluminum can crusher or go to web site by typing in moneybailer at top

  • CAN YOU MAKE IT FASTER?

  • stomp stomp stomp stomp... my can crusher... came as a free accessory on me.
