  • Vielen Dank für das wundervolle Video von LA DIVINA als Medea 1961 an der Scala.

  • @AOG93 How about Britten's songs? Have you ever heard his setting of John Donne's Holy Sonnets? GREAT stuff:) --

  • @stevevandien I know, right! Like, imagine them in Tristan, Fidelio, Lohengrin, Tannhäusser, Walküre or Norma, Carmen, Otello and so on... (And imagine Callas with him in works by Britten! I would love to hear her in "The turn of the Screw"... though I'm

not a big fan of Britten..)

  • this is the opera that Beethoven called: the opera that we musicians recognize among ourselves as the highest form of dramatic art.

But it took Callas' Genius to reveal the enormous musical depths of this unrepeatable masterpiece

  • DAMN. How I wish these two great artists could have performed together many more times in other roles --

  • It sounds as if they changed the key to a lower key. It sounds much lower than earlier recordings.

  • How wonderful to see those famous stage photos come alive, as it were. Thank you Onegin65, a real treat!

  • Not her best version of this aria, certainly, but the silent stage clips are fascinating!
