In this video I'm playing my Hammond A100 but I'm not using the real Leslie cabinet. My Hammond has a simple line-out box which I built myself with a jack output, so I can connect it to the SM Pro Audio V-Machine and use the latter as an effect processor. In fact, I'm running VB3fx.dll, the fx-version of VB3 (available with the Windows version) which can accept external audio input and mix it with the internal simulated organ sound, so to be processed by overdrive, spring reverb and Leslie effects.

In other words, I'm playing my Hammond with a VST leslie simulator.

I couldn't have this distorted sound with the real Leslie without blowing the windows away from the walls :)
Instead, this way I can simulate a very loud Leslie without disturbing the peace and I can record with no microphones.

The middle half-moon switch ends with a jack connector that is hoocked up to a USB controller, so I can switch between chorale and tremolo speeds with the traditional Leslie switch mounted on the organ.

The backing track was pre-recorded in Cubase using Toontrack ezdrummer and a Yamaha electric bass.

Add &fmt=18 for stereo sound

  • Hi Michel,

yes, you can use this song as a backing track for your guitar solo ;-)

Let us listen to your play when you're done!

  • Hi, Guido I want to buy VB3, but need to know if I'll be able to change Leslie speed in Cubase. I tried emailing you at your website, but your Gmail inbox was full and rejected the email...

  • Yes, you can change leslie speeds in cubase. It's fully automatable.

My Gmail can't be full... there's over 7 Gb of space left :-)

  • Beautiful experiment, great creativity.

    Bravo !

You should have done an onsite live audio recording too, to show people the real sonic pressure in your room :)

  • Great organ playing. Also the drums are great . Is it the V-machine doing the drums?

  • Okay, so does this mean I can use my VB3 in the V-Machine? How about the other GSI plug-ins (Mr.Ray73 MK2, ZD6, EG70. etc.)? I love the Key Performer, but I would like to use the other plugins primarily.
