TEDxEast INTERCONNECTIVITY - 11.11.10: -Gavin Starks-Codifying SustainabilityStarks is the CEO of AMEE, whose vision is to map, track and connect all carbon data on the planet. By carbon data he is referring to any form of energy consumption—building, material, agriculture etc. He believes that we must work diligently to deploy more resources in order to sustain the planet. In this important talk, he explains how he takes information about carbon footprints and places this data in a web friendly format that is accessible to the masses. Starks spends time discussing the potential of making individuals aware of their personal energy consumption. The challenge he raises is how do we turn this information into meaning in order to make better choices about codifying sustainability to meet the demands of the future? More importantly, how social networking be used as a tool to meet that goal?
