Unboxing of the Allen & Heath Xone:2D MIDI Controller. Enough said...

Enjoy! Expect a huge update soon showing you how to wire everything up so that you can use Serato and Ableton simultaneously for djing and fx!

  • hi mate very nice video, I have a xone 3d at the moment, but I really would like to get the all black xone 92 + 2d + 1d.... and was just wondering how the hell to hook them up together, so I can use Traktor/Ableton... as the xone 3d is basically just usb into computer and thats it, if you can do a video on it that would be fantastic, cheers mate.

  • @DjJackAshcroft Thanks! Strangely enough, I made a video showing how to hook everything up. Go to my video page and it's the second most recent vid. The only difference is that I show how to setup ableton/serato. It shouldn't be too different. Also there are links to wiring diagrams (and Ableton setups) that I made up. You should be able to piggy-back the 1D to the soundcard of the 2d after you setup everything. The black xone is sick!

  • very exciting. I'm trying to learn how to use the 2D to control ableton for adding effects and samples in real time while mixing with a xone 92 and 2, cdj 1000 mkIII's....looking forward to the next update.

  • @organic79 It's good to know someone else is making this type of setup work. You have almost an identical setup to mine. How do you have your xone:2d programmed? I currently am in the process of making ableton device racks for live djing. I haven't even gotten to the point that I am using the shift function! Please keep me posted as you make progress and shoot me some tips! I will do the same.

  • Once the bridge is out, you most likely won't need a soundcard. For what I use my setup for, I do need the soundcard. I have Serato running through Ableton, then I'm using the Xone:2D to split the channels in Ableton and redirect them to my mixer. I will be posting a video with wiring diagrams to show how to do this very soon. It's a lot of work, but well worth it!

  • See you got one. Will be nice to see how you map it out.

Is there an official date for The Bridge to be released?

Can you already use it within the 2.0 update?

  • My mapping is quite basic for Serato right now. I am working on a master map to control both Serato and Ableton simultaneously. I will update with maps and wiring diagrams soon. The bridge is allegedly going to be released around April.

And yes...you can use it with 2.0. The FX controlled thru the Xone:2D are pretty neat.

  • How do i go to your video page?

  • Can it be used without a laptop/pc as mixer?

    Nice vid !

  • @djaoki Cheers mate that really helped, now I have more reason to buy my new equipment! haha. when its all set up I will post some vids on youtube.. :)

  • Why didn't you just go for a 1D? Do you need the soundcard to bridge Ableton and Serato?

  • @djaoki

I ended up buying the SL3 and Akai LPD8, it'll be delivered tomorrow.

Ideally the APC40 would have been perfect but funds were tight, i managed to get £25 off the SL3 though.
