Chris Hedges's new book examines how Christian dominionists are seeking absolute power and a Christian state. According to Hedges, the movement bears a strong resemblance to the young fascist movements in Italy and Germany in the 1920s and '30s. Hedges is the former New York Times Middle East bureau chief and author of "War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning."

this is scary shit. honestly i watch democracy now whenever i can because its the only news show that gives you the unbiased truth.. whether its good bad or indifferent. we live in strange times and we need to figure out that most if not all churches & religions are as sick as they were in mid evil times. they want to control education, foriegn policy, the military and what you think is right and wrong. if you are a christian just focus on jesus's teaching, not the men who run his religion

Hmmm the Guest here speaks of living in an alternate reality. I don't suppose he sees anything wrong with Iran's Leader saying in speech after speech that, Israel has no right to exist and that they need to be driven into the sea to be known no more as a nation. He refers to the republicans and Israelis as fascists but I don't see either one of them calling for the wholesale eradication of a race. SO who is living in an alternate reality ?? Paaaqhhhlease.

@Darusdei Hitler wasn't a dogmatic Catholic and despite his invocation of god throughout "Mein Kampf", Hitler despised Christianity but found the politicking of the Catholic church useful for manipulating the masses and gaining favor (enter, Pius XII) His cabinet, advisory members and military officers were unarguably predominantly Catholic and like Hitler invoked a higher power in their motives "(gott mit uns" on SS belt buckles etc).
