@rickwicz I did get it wrong. To quote from Dave Hunter's great book Guitar Rigs:"And before you go buying that left-handed neck and vibrato bridge to add on to your right-handed Strat to get the Hendrix sound, consider this: Hendrix borrowed bassist Noel Reddings Telecaster to record both Hey Joe and Purple Haze—a sobering revelation for anyone who ever quoted those tracks as classic examples of Jimis great Stratocaster tone."

@univibe23 Noel DID NOT have a Tele at that time. He sold it to get his Jazz bass a few days after he got the Experience job. Hendrix *may have* used a Tele on the Purple Haze and Foxey Lady solos with his first Octavia. That's it. The rest of the album is ALL STRAT.
Noel used a borrowed Tele for Red House that was tuned down to sound more like a bass.

Very nice!! A lot of people don't know but the most Iconic Hendrix album--his first one RU Experienced? The album that sold a 12 million Fender Strats---was actually recorded using a Tele borrowed from band mate Noel. If you listen real close to Hey Joe you can really hear the Tele tone.
