FOR LACK OF DECENT TOILETS AND CLEAN WATER. THIS IS ACCORDING TO THE UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME. NIGERIA IS AMONG THE TWO POINT SIX BILLION PEOPLE WORLDWIDE
WITHOUT ACCESS TO DECENT TOILETS.
THE COUNTRY IS ALSO A SIGNATORY TO THE UNITED NATIONS PLANS TO REDUCE BY HALF THE HUGE NUMBER OF THOSE WHO LACK DECENT TOILETS BY 2015
THE REPORT IS IN CONTINUATION OF OUR SPECIAL PROJECT ON THE CONDITION OF LIVING IN RIVERSIDE COMMUNITIES OF LAGOS.

@Nnfefe : lagoon is not a stagnant water so there is no way the water fetched is the one with shit. Its a horrible situation no doubt but those people have no option to survive if you don't like it why don't you think of helping them by building a standard decent toilet with toilet papers and running water for their kettles. It's unfortunate that people are quick to discriminate but not eager to assist or help the needy. All nigerians don't live in Makoko riverine area of Lagos state.

Lagos is home to immigrants some from ur war torn country and they have no option than to live it rough. They constructed stilt houses on waters because they can't afford a house. How many sleep on cartons in streets, in alleys and on refuse bins in western countries? They shit on streets and dog faeces everywhere.
